Running has been a passion of mine for several years and having recently completed my first half marathon, I am hungry to participate in another race. My parents are both veteran runners that have completed the Boston Marathon before and I know from their stories it is an experience like no other. Furthermore, given the tragic happenings of last year’s 2013 race, I believe this particular event now imports a special meaning to the running community as a whole. It would be unreal to participate in a run where everyone is driven by a sense of togetherness.
In addition to my interest for running and athletics, family values are something of high importance to me. Boston is one of my parents’ favorite cities and since I’ve never been I’d love nothing more than to tour the city with the people I cherish the most while simultaneously bonding over our shared passions.

Hi, my name is Ally.I’m a third year medical sciences student here at Western and take great pride in how well travelled I am at 20 years old – I’ve been to five continents and had the opportunity to explore numerous countries around the world. When asked about my dream vacation, I wanted to go somewhere with meaning that would help me better myself and grow as an individual.
If I could go anywhere in the world, I would visit Boston and participate in the annual Boston Marathon alongside my parents.
Further motivating me to embark on this trip is Boston’s rich history – although the main focus of my dream vacation would be the marathon, I’d love to tour the city and learn all sorts of new things. I also hear Boston is home to some of the finest and most delicious seafood around, which just so happens to be my favorite type of cuisine!

I’ve never done a marathon before so I know partaking in one as exceptional as the Boston Marathon with the people I love the most would be a life-changing and unforgettable opportunity.
Who and When?
I’d be travelling to Boston for a week in April 2015 to participate in the 2015 Boston Marathon – it’s important I give myself an adequate amount of time to train for the run as such a race requires months of preparation. I’d be travelling with my parents as I don’t think I’d stand a chance at finishing the marathon without their support and expertise!
